Christmas 2008 - Sleeping Beauty ~ Wake Up Leh!

Christmas 2008 dramedy presentation was quite different from past years.
This year, it is a spoof off from the famous fable, The Sleeping Princess.
The scene is set on a rehearsal stage. Sleeping Beauty was given an oriental twist with the characters dressed in Chinese period costumes except one. Various human intentions, desires, envy, jealousy create humorous moments as well as impede the process of the rehearsal ending in a fight in the final scene.

There is a "Sleeping Beauty" in all of us. By that we mean, our spiritual slumber. If not awakened by the Holy Spirit, we will always find ourselves entangled in the web of human emotions and selfish desires. Life is chaotic already in itself as depicted in the drama. Why make it worse? We need to wake up from our slumber and see clearly what's happening around us. Only Jesus can truly wake us up from our slumber.

Some comments from the audience:

Creative Arts Ministry 10th Anniversary

On Monday, 9th of July 2007, we celebrated our 10th Anniversary for the Adult Creative Ministry with a thanksgiving dinner at The Arts House. With an attendance of 60 people, we thank God for His guidance and grace over the past decade. There were many more who were unable to attend and some others we have lost contact with.

To all who were involved in one way or another, we want to say "Thank you!" You have all helped make the ministry to be where it is today.

Ps Ben, Ps Dinah, Ps Lawrence and Pat were there to grace the event. Everyone had fun watching the video clips archived over the past 10 yrs. Some were long forgotten but brought to memory again. Some saw themselves mature from one clip to another. "We were so young then...", "Did I really do that?", "Oh no, my reputation is at stake!" Laughter was heard when we recollect the scenes and the things we do for Christ.

Overall, it was heart-warming and many testified the goodness of God as we see His grace over us. To God be the glory!

Hope Creative Arts Ministry: Vision & Philosophy

Mission Statement:
To spread the Gospel with our God-given
talents.

"Remember Jesus Christ, ....This is my gospel" [2 Tim 2:8]
"I have made you a light for the Gentiles that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth." [Acts 13:47]

Vision:
It is our vision to use the performing arts as a vehicle to perpetuate the Gospel whether it be within the Church or outside. God being the Creator of all art forms, it is logical that we should be the pioneers in the arena of arts. And as performing arts transcend culture, language and race, this vehicle can also be used for church planting. Hence, we envision to start a Training Centre for the Arts: one school for dance, one school for drama and one for music to perpetuate the arts and use it to reach out to the people from generations to generations.

"... entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." [2 Tim 2:2]

Philosophy:
As God is the Creator, then as His created beings, we ought to do what He has given to us and to multiply them. Yet, at the same time, we ought to give Him the glory through the Arts because we acknowledge Him as the Giver. The gifts and talents are not ours to brag as we did not create them. We merely discovered them within us or were discovered.

"A man can receive only what is given him from heaven." [John 3:27]
Hence, we should be good stewards and continue to multiply them until He comes back again. [Matthew 25:15-29]

Main Theme:
"To God be the glory" will always be the theme in our hearts as we grow to realise the magnitude of the responsibility that is bestowed upon us.

"Not to us, O LORD, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness." [Psalm 115:1]

Main Verse for those in ministry:
"For in Him, we live and move and have our being" [Acts 17:28]
For it is in Jesus that we live, we breathe, we move, we dance, we act, we sing, we play instruments, .... We are who we are because of Jesus.
